My Wattpad Love by Ariana Godoy
Book review by Reah Grade 7s
“Meeting a stranger in a park isn’t the brightest idea.”
“You’re not a stranger.”
“I am a stranger to you Jules.”
“Evan you’re not a stranger,” I said each word slowly, “I know a lot about you.”
“How could you possibly know I’m not a bad person? I could be a killer or a thief.”
“But you’re not,”
“How would you know that?”
“I just do Evan. I trust you,” I whispered.
That was a snippet of a conversation between Evan and Julie in a book I’ve recently read, My Wattpad Love by Ariana Godoy. One of my favourite books so far. I love it for its humor, all the drama, plot twists and suspense. This teen fiction and romance book will make you will never bore you, it’ll just keeping you coming back for more.
The main characters in this book are Julie Ann Jones a shy, kind, 17 year old girl who loves writing her own cheesy stories and lives with her mom in a small town called Crookwell and Evan Woods, an insecure, introverted, 19 year old boy who is emotionally and physically hurt after experiencing domestic abuse as a child. The book also includes Julie’s two best friends Laura and Jason who are always there to support her. The schools well known player, Shawn Mason and Evan’s sister Helen Woods.
Julie and Evan first met on a ebook community called Wattpad when Evan criticized Julie’s work as being cheesy and immature. Julie is very angry at Evan’s comment but as time goes on by they get to know each other better through an online chat and they realize they have a lot in common and become friends. Evan never told Julie any personal information about himself because he was scared Julie would judge him for his past and leave him, losing possibly his only friend. But instead of Julie hating him she slowly falls for him after they physically meet for the first time. Evan tries to ignore his feelings for Julie and pushes her away every time she gets closer to him because he is scared that he will hurt her feelings but he also feels that he should be with her and protect her.
Mentioning my favourite part of the book would be a complete spoiler so I won’t. My favourite quote in the book was : “Remember… Don’t be afraid to be different. Be yourself in all your glory. My name is Julie Ann Jones and that was my Wattpad love story.” What I’ve learnt from this book even the smallest of actions can have a very big impact on things.
Thank you for reading my review. If you enjoyed my review Im sure you will love
