Hundreds of years ago many minds were filled with magical and mystical adventures of the Heavens and Earth. In these stories, feelings were created, Earth and the underworld were ruled by Gods and Goddesses, and the concept of science did not exist. These stories were favored by the Greek and Romans because of the setting and the writer. As generations and generations passed on, so did all of these stories which had been given the name of Mythology. This is why so many modern day companies, corporations, and groups are inspired by them.
Take a minute to scan the area around you. There is a high chance that at least one thing you see was made influenced by Greek or Roman mythology. From websites, to song lyrics, to candy bars; even children's shows. Mythology is everywhere! Thousands of commonly known companies and groups use mythological references as a catchy name or logo. Some popular ones are: amazon.com- a book store named after strong warrior women; Atlas Travel Agency, named after Atlas- who was punished to carry the world on his shoulders; Nike shoes and sporting goods company, which refers to Nike, the Goddess of Victory, who was quick in running and flying; Pandora Jewelry Company, which is named after the beautiful Pandora, the first woman created to make problem for men; Saturn Automobiles, in Greek, Cronus, named after the father of Zeus; Trident Gum, named after the spear of Poseidon; Venus female razors, named after the Goddess of Love and Beauty, and many more. Not only are companies named after mythology, but many movies and television shows had mythological influences, such as: "The Clash of the Titans", "Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief", "The Matrix", "Hercules", "Troy", "Star Trek", "Spongebob Squarepants", and "The Little Mermaid" are famously inspired by Mythology. "Harry Potter" and" The Chronicles of Narnia" are very popular book series and movies that have mythological beings in them. Like centaurs and Cerebus, The three- headed dog. In sports, The Olympics, a widely know sporting event in which athletes from many countries compete in different sports to earn medals, is named after Olympus. The Phoenix Suns basketball team was named after Phoenix, the bird who died and came back to life. The Tennessee Titans football team was named after the Titans, the parents of the gods. Many names are influenced by myths as well. Some more common than others. Such as Apollo Ohno, or Venus and Serena Willliams. Many planets and star constellations are named after myths as well.
So as all of these years have passed since the making of mythology, why does it still remain so abundant in modern day society? Well back then, people did not know how to explain natural happenings, such as thunder, day and night, or why peacock feathers had eyes on them. There was no thing called "science" back then. People
