This is my position paper on the NCLB Act. It is a brief introduction of the Act and it explains why it is relevant to me as an educator. I had to discuss the act objectively from both sides by presenting the pros and cons, different perspectives, and conclude the paper by indicating my position on the act.
Accomplished Practice Demonstrated: This position paper shows my competence in ethics. The position paper hones in on a problem in all educational programs. The problem is academic honesty. The common focus is normally plagiarism. The paper also talks about how to consider current trends and issues related to the ethical values. The paper also speaks about making your classroom a utopia where everyone can get along. Where the classroom demeanor, respect, honesty and confidence is kept in tune. Growth of Knowledge and Professional Competence- Before writing the paper, I did not know how important it is to make the classroom a common ground. It should be a place where all of the students can be themselves. Now I do understand that being fair and values are at the top of the list when it comes to teaching and getting the students to consider the well-being of others. Treat those how you would want to be treated." I think it may be helpful to keep a list of classroom ethics posted in my classroom at all times. This can help students become accustomed to a respectful learning environment and use the ethics actively, by pointing to phrases or ideas at anytime students or teachers are not "living up" to their agreements. A posted list of ethics is a great way to maintain dialogue about mutual respect amongst the students.
