Observing a Journey through LRT to Quiapo

The Light Rail Transit or "LRT" as they call it for short, is one of the many vehicles Filipinos use to have a quicker way to go to their respective destinations. LRTs in other countries have tight security and rules; but in our country guards check bags and pockets of people who are entering any LRT station to secure that there are no deadly weapons or other things that could cause injury or death. Riding in a LRT is not that quite easy, especially if there are a lot of people. People tend to push or bump someone in order for them to have a sit of their own.

As I rode to Quiapo through LRT, I have observed while inside the LRT that there are people who have a kind personality let women, pregnant women, or an elderly to sit in their position and they would just stand up instead, while some really don't care even if the person is sick or disabled. When I got off the LRT, I was in Quiapo. In Quiapo, I have observed that there are many beggars that ask for some money to feed their hungry stomach with. I also see that the place is full of trashes and muddy waters. Quiapo is also a place known for pick-pockets and snatchers, which I myself was very careful. There are people who sell many DVDs (pirated) so that they can earn a living even though it is illegal. As I investigated further, I discovered that in the inner parts of Quiapo are full of Muslims and are easily angered.

Through my visit to this place, the things that are evident to me were that many are selling DVDs, street foods, clothes, and many other basic needs. I can evidently see that there are also beggars and they tend to come near you for money.

The things that are not so evident for me in this place were that, there are snatchers and pick-pockets. I understand that those people who snatch or pick-pockets, they tend to do it for many reasons, one of which is to have a living. But deep down me, they are doing wrong things that they are not aware of.

Through my opinion, every place in our country has thieves or stealers; because our country is living in poverty. If we only have non-corrupt government officials, unity, non-poverty, and especially full faith to God, we can all have a bright future ahead of us.
