What is OD intervention? How do you identify a particular intervention and implement the same ?
OD Intervention :
Organization Development is "an effort, planned, organization-wide and managed from top, to increase organization effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organization's processes using beavioural-science knowledge".
It is aimed improving performance at organizational, group and individual levels. In a nutshell, OD
is a planned system of change.

Need for OD intervention :
As for any OD intervention to take place, the need for the same should be felt by the Management. The same has happened in our Company.
About the Company :
The Company is one of the largest cement producers in India and No.1 in South India. It has cement factories in Tamil Nadu and Anthra Pradesh. It is a 60 years old Company and average age level of Company is high.
The problem faced by the Company :
(a) The Company is in the process of massive expansion through capacity addition, acquisition and in the process of setting up green field project in North India in order to fulfill its Vision to become Number 1 play in India.
(b) Could not fill-up new positions at senior levels with existing talent pool.

(c) Cost of hiring senior level Executives is very high and it is creating parity issues among its senior level people.
(d) Ageing leadership - to identify replacements for the Senior People, who are holding key positions in the organization and their age level is very high.
OD process at our Company :
Problem realized :
Though the Company is having lot of manpower and pool of talents, it could not identify a potential leader, who can be grown either vertically or laterally.
To solve this problem, the following OD procedure is followed :
a. Problem is analysed
b. Reasons were identified for the occurrence of the problem
c. Strategy / action plan / OD intervention is prepared to solve the above problem
d. Evaluation that whether the problem is actually solved or not
