If the roles of Lennie and George were switched, would Lennie take care of George?

I think that if all of their backgrounds are switched, for example, George was the one who had an aunt and Lennie promise the aunt he would take care of George, then I think Lennie would still take care of him. In the novel I think that the main reason that George took care of Lennie wasn't because Lennie is a really good worker and can earn tons of money, because to be frank Lennie, brings in more trouble than money. I think it's more because George promise to take care of him and he cherishes their friendship despite being a huge burden.

And for the others we don't really think about those particular people's life. Just by the things that we see with our eyes like beautiful trees and sunshine we're not really reminded of the things that others are going through.

Weakness in the novel v.s today’s society

One thing that really makes you weak compared to others in the novel Of Mice and Men and our society is obviously mental or some type of disorder. Well the people that have power are the ones that are rich like the character Curly.

How is the ending foreshadowed?

George told Lennie that if something were to happen, hid in the bush and he would some and get him. This hints that if Lennie did get into serious trouble, George would be the first to find him. Later the scene with candy and his dog hints those who are troublesome and a burden ( age, health) would be put down by others. Candy expressed
