In today's day and age it is known throughout the world that Online Dating is becoming more and more popular as time goes by. It seems more and more people are converting from the standard date, to meeting people online. Is this method effective though, and just how successfully can relationships work if they are started online? In this essay that is exactly what we will be answering. In the following paragraphs I will state the pros and cons of online dating as well as what side I support in this topic by stating opinions of my own also.

To start off, let's look at the pros. Looking for love on a dating site can allow single men and women looking for a relationship to meet more people interested in dating then they would if dating in a bar scene or though set ups by friends. Many people have issues with rejection or social awkwardness when on dates which can most times be completely avoided since online dating is mostly anonymous at first. With online dating, you have a greater opportunity and time span to actually get to know the person you're talking to. It's much easier to find out each other's interests before being put into any physical interactions to where as in the actual dating scene, a date isn't so much about your personality as it is your looks. With online dating, your looks aren't as big of a deciding factor anymore. You also get to meet more people in a shorter time then it would normally take for a friend to set you up with someone they may know or some other likewise situation.

Personally, I'm all for online dating. Through my own experience I've found that online dating can be rather beneficial. I myself have been in a relationship with my amazing boyfriend Josh for what will be a year on June 25th. We started our relationship online, though not in a way people would expect. Our relationship wasn't started on a dating site, but a RPG site we both played on. Regardless of the site however, it is still qualified as online dating. Online dating is nothing more than meeting another person over the internet and developing a personal/romantic relationship with them. I've had a pretty positive experience with online dating and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I understand some may not share my view however and despite all the positives online dating may have it does have its flaws. Most particularly, the biggest flaw is how time tasking it is to actually create a profile on one of the many dating sites all over the net. Not only do you have to hope you have the ability to summarize yourself in a few words but you have to trust that those few words are enough to grab someone's attention.
