The passion for life. A lost cause.

When you think of passion what comes to mind? The passion you have for your child, to be involved in an athletic activity, or even the passion to help others. But what happened to the passion to live life. As a black male I see this as a lost cause in our communities. If you look at our communities, schools, and even our homes we see the lack of respect for out selves. Where did we go wrong? What really happened? Are we the same people that over came slavery, Jim Crow laws, and many other racially aimed actions towards us? Have we forgotten about the fights, hangings, and lynching our grandmothers and grandfathers had to deal with? Listen, our communities are dieing, our communities are dieing! Take a walk in any inter-city and if this plague of ignorance does not move you to ask "What's going on here", then check your heart beat, because you are not living. We are killing each other over materials that hold no merit, shooting young kids, and having countless babies. What happen to the passion? We no longer hold the excitement that we are in the richest country, and we have countless of opportunities. Our communities shelter these young kids with the mindset that all we have is what we see, most of these young kids are one book away from realizing that life is great, instead we see them infatuated with the glamour, fast cars, and quick money. We see are other races that have experienced oppression successful now, they no longer relish on the past, they learned from it and for the most part have over come it, they have a passion to succeed and it's instilled in them from birth. We have no separation from children and parents. Kids are looking like the parents wearing the same style of clothes and shoes, how can a young male have respect for a father that dresses and acts just like him? It's not cute or entertaining that you and your child has the same baggie pants and long shirt, look at what you are doing to your child, wise up and separate your self from childhood to manhood! When do we planet the seed of passion, respect of others, and truly have confidence to succeed in anything. These young kids are like Mediterranean soil, all it takes is some vital seeds planted, education and knowledge will grow feature leaders, presidents, and CEO's. But this is not happening, our communities have planted seeds of greed, envy, and violence and that is evident it our communities. Passion has been replaced by ignorance and infatuation over materialist things. Where do we go? What path do we take, when the passion of life no longer exists? We have to realize this is a plague, and the only cure is self examination, help from our leaders, and teach our youth what life is really about.

Concerned, and ready to make a change,

Reginald
