Choose an ad from a popular magazine and explain how the visuals, the words, and the overall design of the ad accomplish the following tasks. Provide specific details to support your answers.
The ad that caught my attention is an ad the is speaking about HIV. The visuals were that half was half of the page is black and the other white. I interpret this as the races no matter if your black or white you can still get infected by HIV which is a serious disease. In writing on the top part says, "More than one million Americans are now living with HIV. Over 200,000 of them don't even know they are HIV positive."
The struck my hard because it is a very true statement. Many individuals have been exposed and they do not know it and this is the saddest part. This individuals may be single parents young teens or even grown adults. This is a very hard disease to beat and health risk are very high. Then the article goes on and reads "17% spend time in U.S. prisons each year. 12% are injection drug users. 43% are African American. 53% are gay men. 25% are young people age 13-29. Its time to get real about HIV/AIDS."
The words are so deep and the facts are as true as it goes. Many young people today are dying and when they find out they have HIV/AIDS sometimes it may be to late to even start trying to cure the disease. This makes reality hit all time high, people who have another sexually transmitted disease, such as syphilis, genital herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, are at greater risk for getting HIV during sex with infected partners. Most people are not even aware of this and do not take the time to research this information out for themselves.
The overall design for this ad was a great one it caught my eye so quick. The black and white theme always makes you look at ads n a different light. Most importantly they are the ads which are most significant and makes you want to read and understand the meaning behind the words.
