In today's society individuals use the method of critical thinking each day as a way to address problems, situations in the workplace, or disagreements among themselves. Critical thinking helps to start a decision-making process to achieve a solution for any problem. People use critical thinking as a way to deal with the stress of decision-making within a work related environment. An individual thinking under pressure can become aggravated when making decisions. Critical thinking can help with the decision-making process as a motive to understand issues he or she may be acquiring or a way to communicate effectively when working in a work related environment.

Personal Experience Example in Applying Critical Thinking to a Work Related Decision

In the workplace management is required to make decisions on a regular basis when dealing with employees and the stress of work related issues. A personal experience example in applying critical thinking to a work related decision occurs when a manager has to make the decision to terminate an employee who refuses to follow the company's rules and regulations. As a manager there are several steps that management has to go through to terminate an employee for the refusal of following company's policies and procedures. Employees are given a code of conduct manual the rules and regulations of the business. The employee is asked to read and sign off on the material once he or she has completely read and understood the company's policies and procedures within the organization. Once he or she has signed off and dated the material, management then knows that the employee has fully read and understands the material of the handbook and plans to abide by all rules and regulations of the business. If an employee decides not to follow the handbook, the employee will then receive a write up for conduct. In the organization there are several types of write-ups an employee can receive within a certain period of time. Once the employee has been given the maximum amount of write-ups, the employee will be terminated from the organization. Management will then follow policies and procedures with applying critical thinking to determine if the employee should have another chance on continuing working as an employee of the organization. Some of the decisions require more critical thinking than others. Critical thinking in this example of a personal experience in the workplace is the work related stress of management making decisions through using the critical thinking decision making process.
