Persuasive speech Outline
A walk for suicide
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to donate and participate in suicide awareness walks.
I. Introduction
A. Attention getter: (holding obituary) this is my Brother Jason three years ago, he took his own life. Jason had just turned 21 a month that July. At the time of his premature death, things were very chaotic especially after we had lost of father to congestive heart father. Jason gave no real evidence that he was suicidal. We all figure his grief was due to our father's recent death. On October 25, 2007, I received the last phone call that I would ever receive from my brother. He told me that he was going with mama and daddy and that I did not have to worry about him anymore. He also told me he loved me and then hung up the phone. He was dead.
B. (tie to the audience)- On average 90 Americans, take their own life, 2,300 attempts to do it. 1 out of this 90 American can be a family member, friend a coworker or just someone you know
C. Today I would like to talk to you about the need to raise money to further research, and second how to register.
II. BODY
A. In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes claiming more than 33,000 lives year.
B. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute.
C. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United states
D. 90% of all people who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death

III WALK TO SAVE A LIFE
A. By walking in the Out of the Darkness Community Walks to benefit the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), you will be
Walking
With thousands of people nationwide
B. participating in these walks will raise money for AFSP's research
education programs to prevent suicide and save lives.
C participating in the walk will increase national awareness about depression
and suicide, advocates for mental health issues, and assist survivors
