How is P&G using collaboration systems to execute its business model and business strategy? List and describe the collaboration systems and technologies it is using and the benefits of each.
P&G did not remain tied to a strictly "invent-it-ourselves" approach, which had proven limiting. Instead, it shifted its focus to placing greater emphasis on finding innovation from individuals and companies outside of its organization. Today, more than 50 percent of P&G product initiatives involve notable collaboration with external innovators. Continued innovation, combined with product diversification, high brand recognition, and an extensive well-functioning global network has helped P&G to become one of the most successful companies worldwide. P&G used different collaboration systems and technology in order to achieve their goals such as
* Blogs and other collaborative tools, these were used to replace email which was only sent to specific persons and something didn't sent to the individuals who needed them the most however with blogs the contents are open to anyone interested, and attracted comments from interested users.
* "A total overhaul of its collaboration system led by a suite of Microsoft products. This was use in order present and store information/data more efficiently and effectively, in addition to communicate better.
* Connectbeam, which allows employees to share bookmarks and tag content with descriptive words that appear in future searches, and facilitates social networks to help them find and share information more effectively.
* InnovationNet, contains over 5 million research-related documents in digital format accessible via a browser-based portal. That's a far cry from experiments glued in notebooks.
* Cisco TelePresence conference rooms at many locations across the globe. For a company as large as P&G, telePresence is excellent way to foster collaboration between employees across not just the country but continents.
