Abstract
Photosynthesis is being conveyed in the area of process and importance. Among other things to be conveyed, the role of fermentation in generating energy for cells and enzyme activity being regulated by the cell will also be expressed.
Photosynthesis
Capturing solar energy has been a journey taken on by the world to live a more natural, healthy life. Cars need batteries to operate, computers need electricity to turn on, and most living things must obtain energy from sunlight in some manner. Without energy from the sun, there will be very little life here on planet earth. There are organisms that can hold captive this great source of energy. The organisms that are able to do this do so by performing photosynthesis (Audesirk, Audesirk, & Byers, B., 2008). This essay will not only talk about the meaning of photosynthesis, but its purposes and all elements that function with it.
Photosynthesis works together with respiration (or Aerobic Respiration) so that we obtain energy from food. Before an explanation is given on how they work together, they must be understood. Photosynthesis is a procedure that traps energy from the sun and held chemically as energy in the form of organic molecules (Audesirk, Audesirk, & Byers, B., 2008). An example of this type of energy is sugar. Aerobic Respiration is a system that breaks down molecules using oxygen. While this is being done, respiration creates something known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP)(Wise Geek, 2012).
Animals cannot photosynthesis. In order for animals to get their energy, they have to do what human beings have to do in order to get energy...they have to eat and drink in order to obtain water, carbon dioxide, glucose and oxygen (Climap, 2012). A lot of animals have to eat photosynthetic organisms for food. For example, horses themselves cannot photosynthesize. However, horses eat grass, which has to be broken down in their bodies in order to receive the benefit from it. When animals eat, they break down their food into its most basic sugars...basic sugars that are in this condition will not be used by animal's bodies (Wise Geek, 2012). The sugars have to be released when the food is broken down in the body. In other words, oxygen helps to complete the process...that process is respiration.
Plants have to photosynthesize in order to get their food. It's their way of eating. Actually plants have to produce food themselves. Plants use power from the sun to make glucose out of water and carbon dioxide. Plants also harvest the air that additional organisms have to breathe in order to live. In order for plants to have energy, they catch it (photosynthesize) on the leaves...a clear sign that they have the energy needed through collecting sunlight is the fact that they turn green because of pigmentation (Climap, 2012). Some of the glucose that plants have to catch will be utilized through the process of respiration. However, the greater portion of the glucose will be transferred to other living things. This transfer will be made from the plants that produce the energy to the animals that cannot produce that energy themselves, and have to eat photosynthetic organisms (Climap, 2012). When plants perform photosynthesis, they take CO2 from the air around them. In other words, plants help to filter the amount of CO2 that is in the air.
Since humans cannot photosynthesize, we have to eat food in order to receive the benefit. In other words, we cannot produce our own power. Our cells
