Prescription for a Healthy Life Paper

Since I want to have a healthy future and an enhanced quality of life, I have come up with a prescription for myself. This prescription is what I must abide by if I want to lower my disease risk and have good health and longevity. This prescription is based on the seven dimensions of wellness.

* Social--I will continue to maintain positive relationships with my family and friends. Even though there will be times when I may not see eye-to-eye with them, I will not stop loving them. I will respect our differences.

* Emotional--This entails me being aware of my feelings at all times. I know there will be challenges I will have to face, but it is important for me to deal with them in a productive manner.

* Spiritual--My spirituality is of utmost importance to me. I must maintain my relationship with God. He is my source for everything. When I do this, I have peace and harmony in my life. If I am not happy in my chosen career, I need to make some changes. Once I find my niche, I will be happy. This happiness will allow me to have a positive impact on the organization I work for.

* Intellectual--There is an old saying that states, "Knowledge is power." I firmly believe this statement is true. I act accordingly by doing whatever I can to learn new concepts and improve my existing skills. I believe in lifelong learning because you are never too old to learn.

* Physical--This dimension of wellness is very important to me. I want to live a healthy, quality life. I am a very active person. Therefore, it is crucial that I be physically fit to carry out all of my responsibilities. I am well aware of the fact that my behavior plays a major role in how I feel. Healthful habits such as exercising, getting the proper amount of sleep, and eating right are things I must do to stay well.

The textbook stated that all of these dimensions of wellness are interrelated. In other words, a specific dimension has an impact on one or more of the others. For example, from a personal standpoint, I have to get adequate
