Pursuit of Happiness
What is happiness? Happiness is different in everyone if you really think about it. Happiness can be obtained in many ways to suit the individual for instance happiness can be marriage life, well educated, religious or even things in our culture. Happiness is getting a certain goal you strive for. Something that makes you happy might not make another person this is why there are ways in keeping a person happy. Since America has many different races to pursuit of happiness in cultural Americans perspective on happiness first with the African American. African American for century had a hard time in getting true happiness, and some are still seeking for happiness and trust. Even though the African American dealt with the abuse and labeling for centuries the African American pursuit of happiness was dreadful. Been label, having their name change, and family sold off also been raped if you were a woman was part of the hard time my ancestor went through for me to have true happiness. In 1865 we were declared as a human-being not a slave or animal according to the thirteenth Amendment. With the fourteenth Amendment and fifteen Amendment outcasts the Jim-Crow law to give African American more says in life and citizenship. Ask for the Caucasians race their happiness was totally different for centuries in my time and study for some Caucasians they want to keep the races separated they did not like the fact of free liberty at all for other they got use to the fact every needs to be treated equally to be happy. Caucasians happiness is also the experience they have been through a highly desirable and positive emotional state. Ask for the Asian American social harmony is hundred percent more worthy than simple an individual success. A friend of mines who is Japanese (Asian American) told me his cultural meaning in happiness is satisfying the expectations your family set for you as a child, also meeting your social responsibilities showing respect. In other words he said an Asian American does not work as hard in pursuing happiness they just do not pursue it. To me it seems like the Asian American pursuit of happiness is the value of family honor and respect. I truly respect the Asian people for honor their family cultural and this shows the respect they have for their ancestors. The values of their culture encourage them to pursue and attain their happiness in a way that is in harmony and no conflict with another well-being and happiness. So if a person is thinking about been in the life of a Asian American they have to get ready for positive and negative affects because their tradition is totally interactive and very cause and effect so maintain this balance is very important to them in order for happiness to within their lives. Here in the United States American and pursue their happiness with out worrying about a tradition, but Asian have tradition they have to go by to satisfied older family
