Queen Elizabeth’s speech gave strength to the troops who were going into battle, to make sure her faith in them and her capacity as a leader through the use of repetition, persuasion, and diction. In the start of her speech, the queen uses “we” to sound as she’s in the fight along with the troops. By doing that she makes herself seem as equal as them. The queen often uses the phrase “my loving people” by doing that she comes off as a endearing person who has affection toward her own country or people. By using an emotional argument, she’s slowly turning the nationalism in them. When the troops start to feel the nationalism it gives them a actual purpose to go out there and fight for their country while feeling proud of doing so. When speaking of defending the country, the Queen states that she herself is willing to fight amongst them she as she repeats "myself" as a way to boost up her dedication to her own country. The Queen also states that her full trust is on them (troops) which comes off as a way of her that she’ll never have any distrust on her own people. With that in mind the troops feel that reassurance of their Queen. The Queen never feels the need to control her people in fear of rebellion, she willingly gives them the power to defend and protect the homeland. The final persuasion the Queen uses over the troops, is the promise of giving them "rewards and crowns" for anyone who may have been concerned with financial and influential matters. The repetition of “your” in the last few sentences in her speech really serves as way to show how truly important the troops are in the Queen’s eyes. Throughout the whole speech the Queen uses the value of trust, nationalism, and material reward as a way to convince her troops to defend their homeland. By making herself a equal and showing her willingness to die in battle it makes it seem slightly more comfortable to the troops to do so. By doing this all in whole it gives the troops a cause to rise to go defend their homeland from the enemy.
