Quotations that Inspire and define Me as I analyze my strengths and weaknesses
As a young lady on the brink of completing school, I am excited about the prospect of entering a new era in my life. When I embark on this journey I will constantly be remembering some remarkable quotes that will inspire me and spur me on to succeed. I have always been drawn to the quote "The secret of life isn't what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you" by Norman Vincent Peale. I have seen quote in action throughout my upbringing as I watched my loving parents steer through many challenges in life by being optimistic and determined to find ways to solve their problems rather than sit back and give up. When one plan did not work out they simply sat down and devised a new plan of action. Their actions have developed in me an optimistic outlook in life and have equipped me with the ability to respond to life rather than react to it which in essence is what the above quote clearly highlights. It makes remember that even if things do not unfold the way I plan or wish I must constantly be tuning my mind like a radio to an internal station
Will say 'yes' to life instead of complaining and moaning and giving up because to live life one has to solve problems and constantly grow as a person.
The second quote that speaks to me is one by Oprah Winfrey," My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment." I chose this quote because I admire Oprah Winfrey. She is one the most powerful woman in the world and comes from a very humble background. The woman has succeeded on talent and energy and basically doing her best at all times despite the challenges she faced which is
an inspiration to me. This quote motivates me to always put my best foot forward in every task, whether it is a task pertaining to my studies, goals in life, household duties, or personal responsibilities. Even if I end up failing in some tasks, it really does not matter if I see to it that I do everything with all my might. I always bear in mind that it pays to do your best in everything that you do and that failures may not make you get some of your desired goals, but failing principally makes you a wiser, tougher, person who is now better equipped to take on the next challenge.
The final quote that I am drawn to is "Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There's plenty of movement, but you never know if it's going to be forward, backwards, or sideways." by H. Jackson Brown Jr. I chose this quote because without discipline no problems are solved and nothing substantial or worthwhile is achieved. Discipline glues commitment to our goals, and structures the pathway that makes our dreams come true. It is intention put into action. This quote helps me to remember that we are the "architects" of our lives and that in order to live happy and fulfilling lives it is important for us to learn self-discipline and self-control. Discipline is something we all need because it is a vital characteristic of successful people. A lack of discipline is the main reason for the failures we experience in both our personal and professional lives.
The three quotes that I chose to highlight are actually manifestations of my personal strengths. I am an optimistic, positive young lady with lots of determination and self-discipline as I tackle life's challenges to the best of my ability. As this is my final and most crucial year of schooling I have learnt a lot about myself and my capabilities. I have found several strengths and weaknesses concerning my life that were not revealed until I reached this significant year of my studies. One of my greatest strengths that I have recognized would have to be my ability to be a well-organized young lady. I make a point of writing down what I have to on paper and prioritize what is more important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize
