A new chapter of our NSTP life was open; November 17, 2012 at 8:00 in the morning to be exact, this day was so exiting because we are going to meet new classmates and new friends to get along. The community service in NSTP serves a big plate of experience for the students taking up this course. Some of the lessons it can offer are teamwork, creativity, altruism, volunteerism, being industrious and a lot more.
When NSTP days goes on. We have been grouped and assigned to different programs. So our assigned program was "Sports and Recreation". I and my group mates thought that it would be an easy project for us but we are wrong with that thought. There were times that the facilitators gave their time to our class so that we would have enough time to plan on how we are going to implement our program and what are the methodologies that we should use to make it successful.
So in this course, we will encounter community service. So, community service is an important activity every person should embrace as we grow up. Doing community service, a person will find ourselves and be exposed to the lifestyles of other people, which also tends to make the volunteer more aware of the needs of the less fortunate. Volunteering also contributes to the result of more teenagers being more grateful for everything they have and thus they give more.
Every Saturday I look forward to the end of the school day even more than usual, because that is the day for community service. For our community service, we served in two different areas. The first area was Sto.Niño 2 and the second area was Sto. Niño 1. We enjoyed doing community service. We were exposed to the needy children.
The word service may sound like torture to many but to see the hopeful faces of the children and to teach them really brings a sense of accomplishment.
Being a responsible citizen means being there for other people, not just looking out for yourself or for your friends. There is an endless variety of ways in which a person could be a responsible citizen: helping someone in need, keeping your city clean, serving on committees, coaching little kids in a sport, etc. But being responsible to me means reaching out past yourself to see what you can do. It's more than just doing my job, because that's what we are expected to do. It's doing the unexpected to make our city and even our country a better place to live.
