This book can help reader to enhance computing power. The book is divided into six parts. The first three parts are fantastic mathematics, speedy calculation and visual mathematics. In the part of fantastic mathematics, there are some interesting questions, for example, how to get the sum of a even number by adding five digits of 1 together (1+1+1+1+1=even number?)? And the answer is 1/1+1+1+1=4 or 1+1/1+1 +1=2. In the part of speedy calculation, it teaches reader to use speedy method for calculation or solving question, but equation is not required. In the part of visual mathematics, the questions are presented in graphics, the reader solves the questions by visual judgment only and calculation is not required. In conclusion, this book rejects the use of boring theory or equation to solve mathematical questions and uses some interesting graphics and games to train reader's mathematical mind. I not only found a lot of fun in this book, but also it could train me an outstanding computing power and extraordinary mathematical mind.
The second half of the book is also divided into three parts that are Subtle Arithmetic, Digital Magic and Secret Number. In the part of Subtle, it provides a lot of tricky questions that we always meet daily. We need to solve these questions with a clear mathematical mind. In the part of Digital Magic, it has some mathematical problems that they always appear in our daily life. We can solve them with mathematical theories which we have learned such as algebraic. The last part is Secret Number, it has some games of number-placement puzzle that is like Sudoku. There are 5x5, 6x6, 7x7, 8x8 and 9x9 grid puzzles. It is the most difficult part among the book.
Fill up the blocks of figure 1 with the digits that are provided in figure 2 so that the sum of each column and each row should be equal. Each digit can be used one time. The time for thinking is limited to seven minutes.
This book provides a lot of mathematical games to enhance reader's computing power. It is helpful to train reader's mathematical mind. Having a flexible mind and a good mathematical computing power can improve my performance in studying. Besides, it also provides a lot of tricky problems that we always meet in our daily life. I would like to explore more on this subject as this book rejects the use of boring theory or equation to solve mathematical questions. It uses some interesting graphics and games to train reader's mathematical mind. Particularly I would like to know more on the Visual Mathematics because the questions in this part are presented in graphics. I need to solve them by visual judgment only and calculation is not required. It is very interesting.
