The human resources department plays an essential role to the success of an organization. The human resources department amidst an organization supervises worker’s relationships in addition to selecting salaries and wages, retaining staff and instituting workers’ performance objectives. Human resources establish programs modeled to make certain that the performance of the employees amidst the business organization are aligned with the organizations mission, vision, goals, and objectives. This paper will touch on the goals of research in human resource and compare applications of primary and secondary research. A clarification of in what way reliability and validity are practiced and how come they are vital to human resource research.

Research in HRM

The goals of research in HR is to comprehend the availability of resources and what resources are accessible to an organization. Research in addition to assists a company to pinpoint and comprehend its shortcomings and resilience. Research in HR is also vital to guarantee that the company is achieving its purpose and goals. Research in human resources enables an organization to determine how to get a project started, what resources are required, and how much of the workers are required to attain these goals. Research is used to evaluate the practices and performance. Research in human resource uncovers areas of poor performance, and can aid in improving performance. Research in HR also determines whether or not there is compliance with the company policies and legal regulations.

Primary research

Primary research is modeled to meet your distinctive and clear cut needs and is governed by research firms. Primary research answers questions that are relevant only to your company. Primary research can assist when a company is trying to launch a new website and wants input in the design and efficacy and research helps businesses to gauge focus groups responses to their site. “Primary research offers further objective results and uses statistical models to come up with a sample group that is representative of your target audience and is very relevant to your business needs. Examples of primary data are focus groups, surveys, field tests, interviews and observations” (DeVault, 2016).

Secondary research

Secondary research is situated on collecting information coming out of different sources and then coming to a conclusion. In human resource secondary research can be used when drug testing employees, doing background checks, and checking references. Secondary research assists the human resource department to determine if one is suited for the job and their qualifications meet the position they will be hired for. Primary research in human resources is the interview and secondary research in human resources is checking references in order to fill the position and management uses the findings to come to an educated decision.
