Together these use comparable subjects in their work; however the depiction of these subjects differs significantly. As a result, it is vital to comprehend the setting of realism vs. romanticism and vice versa. Realism was a movement trailed by the era of romanticism. As the names of these genres suggest, romanticism is noticeable by the supernatural, by circumstances and individuals that were flawless and out of this world (Krammer 1). In Contrary Realism, on the other hand, is based off reality, with characters and locations that are thought about from real life (Woodlief 118-21). While both movements tended to use the observed world as their subject, Realism is a better alternative to Romanticism because it demonstrates the reality of human existence.

In terms of stylistic features both movements relied on individualism and uniqueness. Moreover, a bulk of both paintings and art works are unplanned and unprompted. Meanwhile both paintings and artwork are likewise comparable in their service of shock tactics and confrontation of the onlooker, taking them out of their comfortable settings.

Francisco Goya is a great an illustration of a realist artist who uses these shock tactics as a vital part in his work. He expresses his feelings very blunt and he became the trailblazer of new artistic propensities. He declined prior conceptions of art and preferred an original formed of expression. As an artist, his brilliance was presented to the fact that he was far beyond his time of classical's and he was outstanding in his work.

In relationship to romanticism, his work was opposed to gratifying and heroic images (portrayed violence and death) and deeply linked to the moral importance of the figures. He characterized misery, obliteration and violence in every possible way. The war victims he depicted in his pictures and images were anonymous regular people.

In The Pic Above, Goya intended to deemphasize the prejudices committed by the French, throughout their profession of Spain; Overstated and overvalued to highlight the severe stress and pressure that complicated all parties. The strong lighting, indistinct and loose brushstrokes, and Goya's personal mind of the event are all illustrative of Romanticism. It was Taken in1808, Padro, Madrid.

Another realist artist was José Jiménez. He was A Spanish painter, and became a fulltime professor in 1987. Trained in Seville, he settled in Madrid in 1890 and Cabral and Eduardo Cano de la Peña. He transformed his paintings to his every day daily life. As a kid he discovered his passion for genre painting, due to the custom of romanticism in Seville.
