Mexican Movies
Summary:
This is a story about a family of four at the movie theater who is there to watch Mexican movies. The author is supposedly a young child, and the gender of the author is not clearly evident. This child also has a younger sibling who is a boy. The story describes the different things that these children get to do while at the movie theater. The whole atmosphere of the place is described in colorful terms. The author tells that they only like the Pedro infant movies because those do not have him tearing dresses of the ladies and he never dies, but sings the happy song at the end. The most favorite part for the children is when the parents carry them off to the car from the theater and then from the car to their beds. The story is says that their movie nights are on Saturdays, because at the end, when they wake up, it's Sunday, and the author seems excited about it.
Questions:
1. How old do you think the author and the younger sibling is in the story?
2. Why do you think the author is excited about the next day being Sunday?
3. Do you think that this experience for the author was just at the Mexican movies and hence, was the title given appropriately?
Response:
This story is a very abrupt almost a journal like incident. This seems like it was pulled from an individual's diary about how they felt at a certain place. I like the manner the author describes the different experiences at the movie theater, and this is often how we think about our experiences at different places. One thing that makes me wonder is how interested the parents are in watching the movie. They seem to let the kids out by themselves. Also the theater must be empty if the children have to be able to play along the aisles. Even though the movie is rated R, children are allowed in. I particularly think that when the author placed the sentence "we like Mexican movies" at the beginning of the last paragraph, there was a purpose. This probably was to show how much she enjoyed being at the Mexican movies for everything other than the movie in itself. The best part of the story according to the author is when they are carried upstairs to their beds and tucked in. This is true for any child no matter where they are carried from. Being in the loving hands of parents are always the best.

Summary:
This story is about a young lady who wanted to buy those saints statutes or 3D pictures of saints. There were two stores that she knew about which sold these items. She also knew which one was cheap, but as she says she didn't have time to go to the other side, even though it would have been economical. On her way from Santa Rosa Hospital after seeing someone by the name of tencha, she walked to the store that had the rude owner and was more expensive. She explains she had no other way than to go there. She explains that even though he was sitting there, the shop was closed and it seemed like an effort to let people come in and buy from his place. He had an extremely bad attitude to his customers and was not willing to make them feel at ease. The author seems very agitated by his attitude.
Questions:
1. Who was she buying the Virgin de Guadalupe for?
2. Why did she not leave when she saw that the owner was rude?
3. Why do you think the author chose to stay quiet at the owner, but express her feelings
