Scottsboro trials was a incident in alabama near the city of scottsboro Alabama on March 25, 1931 when 9 young african american boys were on a train and got in a fight, charges of assault and rape were put on the boys, even though the girls were lying and they fought the white men in self defense, in this era of american history segregation was still a big deal. right away all the boys were sentenced to death.
The boys were hobos that were just trying to get away from a lynch mob, and they got on a ‘white only’ train and they got into a fight but the boys were just protecting themselves and 2 white females accused the boys a rape. So they went to court in Scottsboro Alabama, of course being 1930s in america the court was against the boys because they were african american. After they went to court for the first time the were sentenced to death.
The 2 girls that accused the Scottsboro boys were Ruby Bates and Victoria Price. Victoria price was a poor cotton mill known for rudeness, prostitution and unruliness. She testified that she was raped by the 9 scottsboro boys and that they were wielding knives and gun, and of course she was being sarcastic. The whole reason Victoria lied so she won't go to jail for prostitution There will come a time in most students' careers when they are assigned a research paper.
