Marijuana should not be legalized. I have seen marijuana ruin many people's lives. The legaliization of marijuana would increase the chances of the drug falling into the hands of children. Also, marijuana is often used as a stepping stone drug leading to herion, crack cocaine, or other powerful drugs. Legalizing marijuana is not a good decision for the U.S. From my point of view, this drug is being used for all the wrong reasons. Smoking can cause physical effects. For example, features, lips turn color, memory, and self-esteem. Smoking marijuana causes the brain to conjure up all kinds of ideas that you would not have thought of if you were sober. In the past three month, I have seen six of my close friends drop out of college because they could not focus on their work due to marijuana. I really couldn't understand how they could let this little drug stop them from furthering their education. When you smoke pot, you have unrealistic views of life. Some people in the U.S. today think marijuana should be legalized. They believe that smoking the drug is helpful to the human in some ways. Some say that it is used for medical issues such as glycoma. They believe that since some doctors prescribe the drug it should be legalized to maybe help save people's lives. I disagree with the fact that marijuana should be legalized because smoking marijuana might not be as harmful as alcohol and cigarettes, but it still harms the body.Marijuana burns the brain cells and cause the loss of long-term memory. There would be a higher rate of unemployment and more people on the streets if marijuana were legalized. People who use this drug do not look at life in a realistic matter.
