Ellen's Stardust Diner is a hopping place on Broadway in the Big Apple. This restaurant is a 1950's style diner complete with checkered floors, waitresses in poodle skirts, and waiters in smashing polo's. The restaurant is staffed by aspiring singers, dancers, actresses, and actors who someday hope to make it big on Broadway. The wait staff is able to entertain people for hours on end. Every minute that the staff sings, listeners want to tap his or her feet or clap even louder. Ellen's Stardust Diner is a restaurant that has mediocre service and food; however, it shows great character, the customers have a good time, and it supports aspiring Broadway stars.

Ellen's Stardust Diner does not fully stand up to its competitions quality of food and service in the bustling city. Unlike the other restaurants in New York City, the wait staff here has a bigger job than just getting the customers their food. At first, a customer may walk in expecting to get in and out within a certain period of time; in fact, there is much more to Ellen's than just food. The wait staff will start by introducing themselves, and doing the normal duties of getting the customer something to drink; however, this service only lasts for a short time. After the waiter or waitress returns with the drinks, he or she will continue by taking your order. The menu consists of normal diner foods with a celebrity twist to them. For example, one burger is called the Frank Sinatra. Once the staff member takes the order, the customer will be lucky to have the waiter or waitress check up on how things are going for the rest of the night. After what may seem like forever, the bus boys will bring the food to the table. Do not get to excited however, because the food is mediocre at best. The question becomes, what makes this restaurant good?

Although the service may not be anything to talk about, the diner has so much character and could make anybody have a good time. Right when a customer walks in the doors music is blasting and people are singing along to the music. Checkered floors take people right back to the 1950's. All of the wait staff is decked out in 1950's gear and high ponytails. Customer's get to sit in diner chairs and booths with staff members dancing on top of unoccupied tables. Another fun aspect of the diner is that customers are able to request any song for the wait staff to sing. When they are not singing requested songs, the staff sings popular Broadway tunes. This restaurant is a great place to go before heading out to a show on Broadway. To make this restaurant even more appealing, it is located right off Times Square in the Theatre District of Downtown Manhattan. The location is easily accessible for travelers who are staying in hotels right in Times Square. These few examples take the edge off of an impatient customer.
