Rock-a-bye baby, in the tree top

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock

When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall

And down will come baby, cradle and all

The day starts at five thirty am, you drag yourself your of bed and heave yourself into the shower. You only start to awaken once the water has hit your skin. You realize what a long day you have ahead of you; school, sports AND homework. You are trying to stay awake in that awfully confusing and boring mathematics lesson. The day just seems to drag on and on and on. To make matters worse, you were caught asking your friend for a tissue but it was mistaken as a full on conversation- double cross country for all.

The whole day you've been desperate to try and get some sleep. The only thing that comes in between you and that moment when you can finally rest your eyes is that homework. Did all the teachers discuss and come up to a nearly impossible decision to assign all projects and tests to be in the same week? You then deceive yourself into thinking that you will concentrate on that dreaded mathematics homework that you don't understand because you were half asleep while it was being explained. You finally get to that stage where you've showered, the homework is done and you are about to pass out from exhaustion.

You check the time and it is twelve am. You know that only means five and a half hour of sleep but it is worth it. The moment you have been longing for the whole day; sleep. This beautiful thing that takes you to another world. A world where you control everything. It is like your own personal cinema, where you get to watch drama, comedy and horror movies in high definition 3D and listen to it in surround sound. The best thing that it is all free!

Sleep is the epitome of a true friend: makes all your troubles disappear for a while, you truly get to relax, let go, be yourself and trust whole-heartedly. This all comes naturally in your subconscious, there are no boundaries: just like with a true friend

They say all beautiful things happen whilst your eyes are closed: laughing, crying, kissing. I think that sleeping should be added to the list. "Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together."- Thomas Dekker
