Some advantages of social media such as Facebook allows you to connect with friends and family no matter where they live, it can also help us develop our social and communication skills. And social media is not so much about meeting new people but it helps to keep our current friendships and family relations enriched. You can also find out on social media what's going on in the news and what the current trends are. Disadvantages of social media is maybe that we spend so much time on the social media site that we could forget to take care of some of our responsibilities. I think it might also makes us become dependent upon communicating with people on a social media site instead of actually taking time to get away from the computer and the social media site to communicate in person some of the time. Also sometimes as in teenagers there can be bullying, cliques, and sexual experimentation, it can also cause depression. So we as parents need to monitor the time and people that our children communicate on a social media site.

How knowing about some of the advantages and disadvantages could alter how a person might use social media is that about the you could take information about the advantages and use them to get the word out about certain information that you would like people to know about. The disadvantages you could use these to help you not to become totally reliable on a social media site and how to help your children so that they would not fall prey to some of the things that go on in the social media world.
