Solution to Child Abuse

What is child abuse? Ezine Article (2011) states that, "Child abuse can be defined as intended or unintended harm to a child by another person who may be parents, relatives or guardians." (p.1). There are four major categories which are physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and emotional abuse. The cases in Malaysia are getting serious, according to Social Welfare Department of Malaysia indicated each year at least 1,000 children in Malaysia are reported as victims. Hence, government, community, school, mass media and family must cooperate to provide solutions in order to prevent child abuse.

First of all, government plays an important role in child abuse prevention. Summary retrieved from EzineArticles(2011) , "Government and non-government agencies must work together to organize more child abuse prevention campaign to help the children escape from abuse as well as educate the public to love their children." (p.4). So, during the campaign, brochure should be given out to the public to raise awareness on child abuse issues.

Secondly, community should take up their responsibilities in the effort to prevent child abuse. Community members must be concern about their neighbour, get to know their neighbour's name with the name of their children. According to Ruby Cha Cha (2011), "As a part of community members, we must cooperate with the police, or report those suspicious situation and cases to the related authority like the local child welfare agency." (p.5). Therefore, if all the community members are carrying out and would not neglect their duties, then this little action would save a child.

Furthermore, the role played by the school authorities is important as well to solve child abuse problem. According to Ruby Cha Cha (2011), "Besides of educating students, teachers should give motivation and advises to their students whenever they face problems." (p.3). Teachers can cooperate with parents through PIBG and together organize some activities to foster a better relationship between parents and their chilren. As a result, child abuse and be prevented.

Moreover, media plays an important role in the effort of preventing child abuse. Electronic and print media have to advertise more about child abuse issue whether it is about the causes, the effects or the signs if the child is being abused. Hence, tips on how to solve child abuse can be given through media. A goodmediacampaign on child abuse will be able to highlight and remind people that it is not appropriate to hit a child. Therefore, this may prevent someone from hurting their child.

Last but not least, family plays as the main role of child abuse prevention. Family members must form a strong bond among themselves especially parents and children. According to Ruby Cha Cha (2011), "Parents should control their emotions and not to venting their anger
