Are not men the ones required to merely register for military service? In most countries, women are not even allowed to sign up for military service. Are not there medical issues that prohibit individuals from providing military service, such as diabetes (in most cases), dismotility disorders, gastritis, IBD, cirrhosis, hemorrhoids, and hernias? Therefore, not ALL women and men can even provide military service. I believe that all women and men should have a choice as to whether or not they enlist in the military before they reach the age of twenty-five.
Many people have dreams they wish to accomplish that do not include a career in the military. There are billions of people in this world; the military does not need every individual to submit to their desire. For example, I wish to be a minister; that does not require military service. Indeed, there are Chaplains in the military, but it is not my desired line of work. Individuals can proceed with their desired career after they retire, but they should not be subjected to the danger that the military includes.
If the United States of America passed a bill requiring mandatory military service to all people upon leaving high school, what would be the effects on our society? Forced military service is the state ownership of its citizens. Slavery is supposed to be abolished by the Constitution; forced military service is slavery; the 13th amendment banned slavery and involuntary servitude. We are individuals, not robots; being subjected to military service would be an act of slavery, which is prohibited and would disable our own free will. It is wrong to force individuals to serve in the military if they do not wish to do so. I believe that all women and men should have a choice as to whether or not they enlist in the military before they reach the age of twenty-five.
