1.Introduction:

We are the student of Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Business studies, Level -04 ,Semester- 01, we are assigned to prepare an assignment on Job Satisfaction and Organisational culture by the Department on Agricultural Marketing and Business Management. As the Group- 04, complete task on public Bank.For the purpose of completion of our task,we went to Sonali Bank Limited in Sylhet city corporation Branch,Sylhet ,Bangladesh.

Sonali Bank Ltd, is the largest commercial bank of Bangladesh. The history of bank is very old. At the old age bank was solely meant of monitory security .But during the sequence of the banking concept has been changed and developed. Modern banking is vital area of Government or people. Sonali Bank was established in 1972 under the Bangladesh Banks (Nationalisation) Order, through the amalgamation and nationalisation of the branches of National Bank of Pakistan. It has converted as a Ltd company on 15 November,2007 taking over all assets ,liabilities and business of Sonali Bank Ltd. It is running its activities through 1211 Branches out of them, 343 are in urban areas, 862 in rural areas, and 2 are located overseas,including 3 foreign Branches[a] (one in the UK located in Osborn Street, London another in Small Health. Birmingham and in Manchester). 

It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of   12 members, The bank is headed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer .The Corporate Headquarter of the Bank is located   at Motijheel , Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2013, $250,000 was stolen from the bank by Cyber criminals using the Swift International payments network. In 2016 the Bank signed an Memorandum of Understanding with PayPal.

3. Objectives  :

Sonali Bank was established to provide more banking facilities to the Bangladeshis. For this, from the very beginning of the bank it had defined its objectives properly.This objectives are discussed in the below:

 3.1General objectives:

  • Earning profit is one of the  main objective of Sonali Bank Ltd. in order to survive in the competitive banking world.
  • It always tries to collect savings from surplus unit through different accounts, special schemes and provident fund facilities.
  • By collecting savings from the surplus unit through different accounts, its creates capital for the deficit unit.
  • It issues check, bank draft, bills, demand drafts, pay order and provides telegraphic transfer, mail service for creating medium of exchange
  • It helps central bank to manage money supply and money management.
  • It provides loan who are in need to run their own work efficiently, promotes the economic development of the country.
  • It provides safe gourd of people’s money.
  • It is cooperating to regional development .

3.2 Objectives of the assignment:

The objective of the study is to know the job satisfaction of the employees and Organizational culture of Sonali Bank Ltd.

  • To evaluate the existing financial performance of Sonali Bank Ltd.
  • To gain practical experience and view the application of theoretical knowledge in real life.
  • To study the credit analysis of Sonali Bank Ltd.
  • To identify strength, weakness, threats and opportunities and observe future growth of prospect.
  • To analysis the unique strategy of the bank followed.
