The wedding celebration depends on the religious to have different time length. Bride wears white color dress and carry a fruit has many seeds which represent of productiveness. The bride's father sacrifices to the ancestors at the family altar and announce that he is passing his daughter to the husband. Women cannot own their property, their husband control all of her heritage. The property can be taken back to the father if the marriage does not work out such as divorce. In addition, women in Athens have no political right. They have no right to vote, they are not allowed to watch the Olympic Games.
Besides that, the lives of women in Sparta are also stay at home. They are being taught how to read and write when they are young. "Spartan women were put through physical training in order to be good mothers" (Scott). They are also taught to protect themselves. They have the same education as Spartan boys. They are even participating in athletics training as same as the boys. Furthermore, they can take part in sports which would be naked such as wrestling. In the marriage, Spartan women are married at the age of seventeen or eighteen. The ritual of the wedding is the bride is abducted from her husband at midnight. Men usually do not live with their wives; they are away from home for training, participate in the war and live with their group of men. Therefore, contrary to the Athenian women, Spartan women own their land and their children are raised by nurses not the mother. Since their husbands are rarely home, they are free to do anything as they wished. They are also expecting to be a warrior. However, there is a rumor that there is high rate of homosexual in Sparta.
