Stayed by herself
Sitting by the side of the riverbank, Margaret looked through the falling leaves of the bamboo tress along the riverbanks sway when the wind blows smoothly. The leaves flowed together with the tranquil water reflected her pieces of memories. The scene of her children playing along the riverbank came across her mind. Her tears kept falling; it was tough for her to stop them. She was so upset by the behavior of her children.
The quiet evening was interrupted by the motorcycle that passing by. Margaret wiped away her tears and stood up. The leaves scrunched filled the tense of the air when she walked through it and into the lonely house.
"Rajesh,Rani call Ramji and go take a bath now!" commanded Margaret to her children. Margaret was a single mother after her husband died due to dengue fever for 1 week. During that era, poor people would not be able to survive of this disease when it attacked the whole villagers. She helped the wealthy villagers washed their clothes and cleaned their houses as the income to feed her family. The three of her children grew up well even though she did not have much time to accompany them played. She only had time to cook for them before went back to her employees' house to continue her work. But she always lullaby and spent the night telling story with them. Rajesh the eldest always acted as a responsible child. He always helped Margaret washed the villager's clothes during weekend while Rani and Ramji the youngest helped with the house chores. This made Margaret felt they knew how to take care of themselves properly.
Day by day, year by year all of them grew up into successful businessmen and businesswoman. Margaret felt so relief that all of her children can go through all the hardship to be able to stand along with others. But somehow, they were busy with their life as glamorous people in the field they worked. Only Ramji went back to her mother side when her mother felt neglected. The youngest opened an agriculture business at the village so that he could take care of his mother as her health was getting affected.
But every coin has two sides; Ramji was called by their Maker just a few months he started the days with her mother again. However, Rajesh who was a responsible son during childhood and Rani did not take this as matter and they continued their life with the path they had chosen.
"I'm sorry mom, I had my life to move on and I can't stay here with you. My business is too important for me to let go. I don't think I can do anything about this." Rajesh told Margaret the day after Ramji funeral ceremony. She tried to hold on his son but his heart was too solid to change his mind. Rani just stood quietly beside her brother. She dare not gave out a word.
That time, time froze. Margaret's world was darkening at once.
