What are the strategic goals of supply chain management and how does procurement, transportation, and distribution affect these goals? Where have you seen the operational components of planning, sourcing, making, and delivering applied inappropriately? How might the operations manager have improved the situation?

Strategic goals (SCM) is for providing customer satisfaction, integrating and managing the way product move, and taking costs down. "Supply chain management (SCM) focuses on integrating and managing the flow of goods and services and information through the supply chain in order to make it responsive to customer needs while lowering total costs"(Russell & Taylor, 2009, p.410).

The supply chain is made up of member from different types of companies or components like raw material supplies, distributors, and customer, " A supply chain encompasses all activities associated with the flow and transformation of goods and services from the raw materials stage to the end user (customer), as well as the associated information flows" (Russell & Taylor, 2009, p.406.

Business uses the combined and the participation of the entire member in their supply chain. In procurement, transportation, and distribution will affect SCM in many different ways. When delays or miss communicated happen in any form, the final steps can be hurt.

Again, in each, the costs associated with the procurement, transportation, and distribution can either increase or decrease customer satisfaction. Some things that will affect the way supplies can be speed and how fast the work is done the end outcome. Depending on how slow or fast that the buyer get the end product will increase or lower buyer fulfillment
