Stress is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical or emotional adjustment. No matter how old you are, everybody deals with some type of stress at least one time in their life. Considering everybody deals with difficult and challenging matters every day. Stress leads to many negative effects and can cause some serious health issues that could be either short or long-termed. An individual might be dealing with a difficult situation in their life, which causes the person to start thinking of reasons why it happened which leads them to keep thinking about the situation and causes stress. For example, in college, when the semester is coming to an end, students begin to try and bring their grade up and also prepare for finals. With finals approaching, that means a lot of studying has to be done because students have to study for multiple classes. For most students, it becomes a hassle because they have to study everything they learn in each class. Since students try and strive for an A, it causes stress because they basically stop their everyday life and put all their time and energy into studying. At this point, students slowly begin to interrupt their normal eating habits, they start to eat less and eat more junk food and fast food which causes them to gain weight. Another major issue is that students also begin to slowly interrupt their sleeping habits because they stay up so late and don't get enough sleep. How stress affects most people may not be the same as it affects others. Few people might see stress as a good thing to deal with but most people see stress as a negative thing. Some people might just go with whatever life throws at them without stressing at all, while others slowly fall apart at the smallest obstacle of life that causes stress. The outlook on life for people is usually determined by how much stress a person can handle and how they deal with it. Considering the effects, they could either be muscle pains or spasms, sickness and diseases, or they could suffer heart problems. Stressors an activity, event, or other stimulus that causes stress, may cause more, which could lead to unhealthy habits. Some major short-term effects of stress are moodiness, depression, muscle tension, separation from others, and certain diseases and sicknesses. Not all stress is caused by external factors. Stress can also be self-caused. There are also some internal effects of stress which are the inability to accept uncertainty, negative self-talk, perfectionism, lack of assertiveness, and many more. People with psychological stress are more prone to develop colds and other sicknesses, because stress that continues without any help to make it better can lead to distress, or pressure in a situation is a negative stress reaction which leads to the body becoming unable to relax or sleep. Other short term effects of stress are physical deformities of the skin. Some skin deformities caused by stress are rashes, hives, wrinkles, and pimples. People with stress might get these because they are internal factors determine the body's ability to deal with the external factors that cause stress.
