Microsoft Corporation is public owned company that has a traditional structure, divisional structure. According to (Microsoft corporation, 2011) this company operates in eight segments such as: Interactive entertainment business, Microsoft business solutions, Microsoft office division, Online services division, servers and tools business, Skype, window & window live division, window phone division. It is created base on their major products. Each unit has a general manager and functions as a small company to mutually research and develop a unique product lines or services. Although, Bill Gate and Steven Ballmer still join every decision big and small, the chief financial officer and head of each division set their budgets, manage profit and loss statement. A management of Microsoft said "like I am running my own little company'' (Daft, 2006). Moreover, Microsoft has flat structure as Charles Hill and Gareth Jones (2008, p.217) said in Essentials of Strategic Management "With its 30,000 employees and five hierarchical levels, Microsoft has a relatively flat structure."
Microsoft culture is internal knife fights, individual and non- innovative culture. The employees work not for common objectives that for beat their colleagues because of analysis strategy. They do not focus on external competitor, go down innovation ideas, and become bureaucracy. Potential products that are not interested or delay as: e-book and smart phone technology, and now they try to chance but they only develop old products: Window, Office (Eichenwald, Vanity Fair, 2012)
