Just as information technology is important in the world of medicine, finance, engineering and many other areas of our society, it is becoming even more vital in our educational system also. Students are learning at a rapid pace through online and web-based technology now compared to a decade ago. In this research paper I will describe why technology in the classroom is important and the positive and negative aspects of it also.
Technology in the classroom is defined as the "study of technology, which ultimately administers and allows favorable conveniences for all students to learn innovative means of learning through web-based technology "(edtech).
Educational technology can sometimes be alluded to as e-learning and web instruction. So far technology is being used in the administration side of education to manage records, money, databases of student information and grades. Over the last decade, technology has made a huge impact for educational learning in the classroom. It has allowed students at all levels to learn via satellite classrooms, which gives students from multiple campuses the opportunity to learn through one facilitator that is able to teach a subject that they otherwise wouldn't have access too. College students are able to learn and take classes online through e-campus, e-learning and blackboard. This is very helpful to students because it gives working adults the chance to go to school and continue their education toward a degree, which will make them more marketable in the workforce and today's job market. Curtis Bonk states that "learners of all ages will be formally engaged in learning, each of us will need to continue learning in order to stay employed" (Curtis Bonk, the world is open). Schools need to invest in technology based learning in order for students to be competitive in this technological world that we now live in. Technology will be the driving force to our countries supremacy in educational learning.
Technology in the classroom has had an incredible positive impact on student learning. Teachers in all levels of education have found many innovative ways to implement technology in their daily classroom experience. Some useful ways have been using digital games, social networking and simulators to enhance student participation. Students have not only been able to learn the old ways but have also learned new and exciting ways to get information. Students are more prone to learn because computers make them want to learn.
