  1. Introduction

The research paper would be discuss the impact of mindfulness on business employees, and present how manager to be more mindfully. The main content will discuss why manager need to be mindfully, and the impact of mindfulness on business employees. Firstly, the definitions and approaches of mindfulness, mindfulness styles, and the results of using mindfulness will be discussed. In addition, the importance of mindfulness and recommendations for business employees will be provided.

  1. Background of study

Nowadays, people are living in a complex, stressful, and confusing world; an increasing number of business employees experience enormous pressure in making decisions, organizing and managing, and creating new ideas (Khisty, 2010). As a result, mindfulness as a special tool has potential to help business employees to resolve personal and professional problems.

1.3 Description of the mindfulness

Mindfulness, as a traditional English word, has been existed around for over 300 years; it is the process of activity of noticing new things that requires maintaining a moment by moment awareness of people’s thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environments. The traditional sense of mindfulness in Western culture involves sustained consideration or thought upon a subject (Dhiman, 2009). Mindfulness involves learning to direct attention to experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance. Mindfulness is always learned in a highly practical way, through experience rather than talk (Khisty, 2010). In adults, mindfulness training has been proven time and again to improve health and wellbeing. It also helps people of all ages to learn more effectively, think more clearly, and perform better and to feel calmer, less anxious and less depressed. In addition, mindfulness also can help business employees’ focus and improve their memory and attention skills, and release their stress (Khisty, 2010).

1.4 Scope of the study

This study focuses on business employees who have problems with making decision, organizing and managing, and creating new ideas.

1.5 Purpose of the study

The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of mindfulness on business employees. The research aims to investigate how mindfulness plays an important role in helping business employees; and some recommendations will be proposed to business employees.

2.1 Literature Review

Mindfulness, as a traditional English word, has been existed around for over 300 years; it is the process of activity of noticing new things that requires maintaining a moment by moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environments (Dhiman, 2009). People are living in a complex, stressful, and confusing world; an increasing number of business managers experience enormous pressure in making decisions, organizing and managing employees, and creating new ideas. Meditative practice as a special tool has potential to help business people to resolve personal and professional problems (Khisty, 2010).

The practice of mindfulness plays a significant role in helping business administrators improve how they work, both individually and together; it also operate with greater safety, quality, creativity, and efficiency (Pater, 2014). Several recommendations for practicing mindfulness are proposed for business managers.

2.2 Mental and physical health

People who practice formal and informal mindfulness periodically benefit mentally and physically; mindfulness has positive impacts on helping business managers, including reducing tension, healing the body, and calming the mind (Khisty, 2010). For instance, Spirit of western medicine in recent years to research meditation; and applied to the psychological treatment, through mindfulness to remove negative thoughts and make the emotion clam (Dhiman, 2009). Most practitioners experience improvements in health-related attitudes and behaviors, and in the way they might feel more assertive, and more confident of their abilities in stressful circumstances (Khisty,2010). In addition, mindfulness as a unique techniques help improve physical health; it helps relieve stress, treat heart disease, reduce chronic pain, and improve sleep. For example, people who practice mindfulness after six to wight weeks may feel a greater sense of control their lives; and an increased willingness to look at stressful events as challenge (Khisty, 2010). Another example is also proved mindfulness has positive impacts on physical health; George said that he have not had high blood pressure since practiced meditation (Dhiman, 2009).
