Think of the large variety of organizations that practice OPC: the numerous varieties in the manufacturing sector; primary industries that produce raw materials, such as mining, extraction, forestry, agriculture, and so forth; followed by secondary industry, which takes the raw materials and turns them into commodities, such as copper stock, sheet metal, textiles, foodstuffs, animal products, plastics, paper, bulk minerals, and so forth; followed by the tertiary industry that turns commodities into component parts, such as electronic resistors, computer chips, tires, engine parts, building materials, and so forth; followed by the fabrication industry, where component parts are assembled into final consumer products, such as cell phones, medicines, cameras, washing machines, cars, breads, packaged foods, clothes and fashion products, cosmetics, furniture, and so forth; and finally, followed by the retail industry, which involves wholesaling, warehousing, merchandising, retail outlets, and so forth. Then think of the varieties involved in the service sector, including financial services, healthcare, fast food, entertainment, transportation, hospitality, e-commerce, and nonprofits such as religious institutions, educational institutions, charitable and social services, and so forth. Add to that the government organizations in all their varieties, including military, regulatory, social services, environmental services, and all the multitude of government agencies current and future.
