Work of art is an item or a creation of art, such as a sculpture or a painting. It can also be described as an object specifically designed for its aesthetic appeal. Priscilla Johnson is a piece of work done by Alice Neel in 1996. The painting has described a young rich American, with a green dress in a good posture. The Seated Woman is another piece of art, done by the talented Egon Schiele in 1917. This is also a painting of a woman, who seems to be isolated and alone. These paints were chosen mainly because they show different characteristics of women through emotions, posture, moods, class and attitude.

The painting of Priscilla Johnson shows her in a green dress. She is sited in a good posture, her hair well done and the painting clearly shows she is a woman of class who has money. The tone of this painting is however full of anxiety. The painting by Egon Schiele shows a woman who sits with her legs spread. The painting seems to be more inviting because her head is well rested on her leg, with both hands on her leg. The mood of the painting is a sad one because the picture shows the woman seems to be in a relationship that is abusive. There are bruises on her arms and on her face. The stocking on her legs clearly suggests that the woman might be hiding more bruises. However, the two paintings are similar in that both pictures are of women who show their emotions in different ways, and what they are going through. The colors used on both paintings are brown and green. Both women are putting on lipstick and eyeliner and their jaws are clenched and their lips tight. The most important similarity between the two pieces of arts is that both paintings are unfinished. This indicates that in the lives of these two women, there is hope for change.
