This article written by Paredes aims to remind us about the happenings during Martial Law and the presidency of former president F. Marcos. Martial Law as declared by former President Ferdinand Marcos may indeed never be forgotten, but the legacies and its crucial lessons of governance are obviously very much around and somewhat seams like some plague. Today, it is not surprising that many political leaders continue to capitalize on or hype the political stigma of Mr. Ferdinand Marcos, even if they were never involved in the political struggle during the martial law years. It (Martial Law) may be proclaimed dead, but after 41 years, its legacy still lives.

 The book McDougald wrote and published aimed to tell the story of the life of President Ferdinand Marcos. The book described the three personae of Marcos as: Marcos as soldier, statesman, and shaman. McDougald questions whether Marcos was an authentic hero, ``the Philippines' most decorated soldier,'' as the dictator contended, and finds little evidence of bravery and much of embezzlement. McDougald stated the grim events during the darkest days of the Marcos Regime highlighting the series of human rights abuse and the vehement corruption that lead to an international uproar. McDougald also wrote in the book the infamous assassination of Sen. Benigno Aquino and the last days of the dictatorial regime.

Rempel, W. C. (1993). Delusions of a dictator: The mind of Marcos as revealed in his secret diaries. Boston: Little, Brown.

Rempel's book gives a compendious knowledge of the former Dictator Ferdinand Marcos's private diaries in his second presidential term in the Philippines. The author of this book, a Los Angeles journalist, had access to Marcos's journals, and provides a history of a mind obsessed with power driven by his delusions of gloriousness.
