The book I read was called "The Report Card". The author is Andrew Clements. This book was

written in the genre of fiction.

The story is about Nora and Steven. Nora Rowly is a 5th grader at Philbrook Elementry in

Philbrook, Connecticut. She is a genius but but has hidden this from everyone so she can be a

normal kid. Nora is kind and wants everyone to feel equal. She has a plan to make grades not

matter so all students will feel equal. Steven Curtis is Nora's best freind. He is hard working

average student in the 5th grade. Steven is the reason Nora came up with her plan about the

grades

.

The Report Card starts with Nora getting her report card. The report card was all Ds and one C.

Nora's parents and teachers are very worried about her. They start testing Nora to see how to help

her. The test results let everyone know that Nora is genius. Everyone pays alot more attention to

her. She is no longer treated normal, exactly what she did not want to happen. Steven and Nora

come with a plan to have all the kids get zeros on all tests. This plan will show everyone that

grades don't matter. The parents and teachers get mad and try to put a stop to the rebellion. Nora

and Steven talk to the 5th grade and tell them to always do their best.

The problem in the story is that Nora wants to be normal and for all kids not to be treated

differently because of grades. The problem is resolved when Nora is allowed to stay in her normal

class with her friends and teachers. The kids also learn that grades are important and they should

always try their best

.

The theme of "The Report Card" is to always try your best and to be happy with who you are.

I liked the message of this book. I agree that grades make kids feel good or bad about
