The Salvation Army Structure and Enviroments

The Salvation organization has been a human service agency for many years. The Salvation Army is run in several different ways from for profit, nonprofit, governmental and even private sectors. This human service agency works at all levels including local and state to federal levels. They are also known on an international level as being an organization which helps foreign countries when a disaster strikes and their help is necessary.
The main purpose of this paper to show the structure of this organization and how the programs are delivered, classified, and how important cultural organizational structure is. This writer will also show how the Salvation Army builds its communities, and how they have had an effect on the local communities and abroad. We will also discuss how the Blake and McCanse's Leadership grid, and Hersey and Blanchard's leaderships model relates to the Salvation Army's human relations, and the organizations organizational charts.
The Salvation Army's mission statement is to provide its clients and stakeholders a clear understanding of what the organizations intents are (Salvation Army, 2011).They are an international movement, and part of the universal Christian church with a bible based message and ministry motivated by the love of god. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discriminating (Salvation Army, 2011).
The Salvation Army provides services such as religious and financial support to families both here in the United States as well as countries which are in need. The organization is known worldwide and has a very strong infrastructure, which provides direct services and Salvation Army employs a divisional structure to maintain command and control at all times (Salvation Army, 2011).The Salvations Army has headquarters not only here in the U.S., but also in London, England, which is its international headquarter where it implements and establishes their policies. There are commanders whom administer regional activities or national with the United States which is divided into four territories and six major organizations (Salvation Army, 2011). Geographic departmentation is a process to which decentralizing operations of a large agency to duplicate small organizations in each of several geographic areas (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2007). This means that an organization is divides its operations or departments by their geological locations as well as their area which they facilitate their services. This also allows the programs to be grouped by services based on a particular area, population or problem, which includes community development all the way to disaster relief efforts.
Program delivery in the Salvation Army is done in several ways, from the awesome programs which they offer to their public. These services which are offered are done to specific groups and programs which are meant to help the changeable needs of the community which they are servicing. One example would be that the Salvation Army offers housing assistance to families which are suffering from financial hardships. They also offer energy assistance when necessary; they will provide the family with a voucher to help with their energy bill. Another is the addiction services which are offered to those individuals which need rehabilitation. Salvation Army offers clothing, medical assistance, energy assistance, as well as rehabilitation centers for adults who are suffering from a substance abuse. The rehabilitation programs are not offered in all areas, however most of the time they are able to recommend someone if they can't help.
The Salvation Army has many services which they offer to the communities which they serve. They have community centers, disaster relief programs, second hand stores, support for missing loved ones, and music programs in some areas. Salvation Army's main focus is on maintaining a healthy and multicultural support and to support the well being of their communities. Salvation Army also offers social services support as well as camps for women and youth ministries. These programs are run through the organization to promote positive principles to the community.
Salvation Army is a nonprofit organization which provides services to their communities, and doesn't maintain any funding for profit. There are volunteers and a board of trustees which do not get paid for any of their services from working for the organization. The Salvation Army is tax exempt, which means they do not pay taxes as they are a nonprofit organization. The Salvation Army is ran financially solely on donations from the community or businesses as well as fundraisers which they hold. These things make them a nonprofit organization. Nonprofit organizations do not have private owners, however they have controlling boards or members which keep the organization up and running. The Salvation Army has helped many people throughout the years. There are many reasons why they are still considered a nonprofit and why they are still a very strong organization. These factors include their nonprofit status in the communities, the fact that they are tax exempt, as well as that all donations are given directly to the people who need them and are looking for assistance. None of the controlling members are compensated for their work, as they are volunteers, which eliminate having to take that money to pay employees, rather than helping the community.
Organizational culture of the Salvation Army has always been based on the beliefs and values of the individuals which work for the nonprofit. The individuals which work for Salvation Army have a passion for helping others, and motivating the community to work together and to support each other. The Salvation Army is a Christian based organization with a mission to preach the Christian faith and at the same time meet the needs of the community (Salvation Army, 2011).
The Salvation Army works in areas which are diverse, with individuals which are homeless, as well as those who have been a victim of abuse. The Salvation Army believes in caring, encouraging, and supporting one another in the community. The sole purpose of the Salvation Army is to develop groups of volunteers which share their same beliefs, and values and which are willing to assist those who are not as fortunate, and may be struggling financially, emotionally or even spiritually (Salvation Army, 2009). The Salvation Army is dedicated to ensuring that their members and their volunteers invoke the same beliefs as the organization believes.
So you might ask, "How does the Salvation Army build communities on a national and global scale?" That answer is simple by living their motto "Doing the Most Good". The Salvation Army helps the community by giving and spreading the word of God to those who will listen. There are
