Murphy stood watching the leaves rustle along her iridescent polished toes. The tranquil winds seemed to sooth her from the worries of the world around her. This was Murphy's senior year in high school and she was still undecided on which college she would be attending next fall, but one thing she had always been sure of was that she was going to make it out of her small hometown of Bridgewater, Georgia. Her dream had always been to attend NYU and become successful in her major. "Murphy, can we please go now?" Leeda said. "Leeda, I don't think that is such a great idea. I mean, a week into school and I have so much studying to do and six chapters to cover before Friday." Since the summer that the girls met, Murphy, Leeda, and Birdie had been the best of friends almost comparable to sisters. From the time they all arrived at the local café to study, Leeda had been trying to wiggle her way out of the much needed study time. She thought that Murphy would easily be side tracked by her endeavor to take a trip to the mall. "Yea Leeda, I think Murphy is right. It's our senior year and it will pay off in the end. The mall will always be here." Birdie agreed. With her feelings on her shoulders, Leeda replied with a solemn and disappointed "ok". "Sorry Leeda. How 'bout one of those caramel frappacinos that you love? Huh? Will that cheer you up?" "I suppose that it might cheer me up a little, but I much rather be in Nordstrom enjoying their fifty percent off sales." Leeda replied. "Okay Leeda. Go ahead and go to the sale." said Birdie. "You really mean that Bird?" "Of course Leeda! Whatever satisfies you, but Murphy and I are staying here to study." "But Bird, this will be no fun without my best buds beside me! Okay you win, I'll stay here" "See Murph, reverse psychology works every time!" They all laughed.

"Mom! Where are my shoes?" Leeda screamed from the upstairs bathroom. "Check your room sweetheart!" "Thanks mom!" All morning Leeda had been scuffling between cosmetic bags, dresser drawers, and jewelry trunks to finalize the look she would be wearing to her senior breakfast. She slipped into a petite black dress and placed the strand of pearls her grandmother had given her around her neck. She removed her favorite pair of black designer stilettos from the top shelf of closet and put them on one by one. Leeda pranced back into the bathroom and began to stare into her elegantly carved vintage vanity mirror. She looked flawless. "Leeda, it's time to go!" Leeda quickly diverted her attention from the beautiful image in the mirror and grabbed her Chanel clutch rushing down the stairs and into the car. "Goodbye, Mom." Leeda managed to make it to the breakfast just before it started. She walked in to find Muprhy and Birdie sitting at the table farthest to the right of the entrance.
