"The Wolverine Fastener Company"

Roger Gordon and Edwin Andrews founded Wolverine Fasteners twenty years ago. They married sisters and became brother in laws as well as business partners. Roger and Edwin were equal partners and made all corporate decisions together. Business was not doing very well in the three big automotive companies who they referred to as GCF. Roger was working 10 hour days, he had a uncanny ability to get things done. The GCF only accepted closed bids and Mary Swoboda was responsible for opening all the bids for GCF. Roger started taking her out to lunch and dinner with his wife to win her over. Eventually she starting giving him the bid quotes. Lance Edson close friend of Roger's, became his assistant for the summer. Roger asked Lance to call Mary to get the information prior to submitting a bid.

Ethical issues that need to be addressed on

 An individual level

Lance realized this was not an ethical thing for him to do and thought about who it would hurt, other vendors. Roger was only thinking of keeping the company a float and making money. Mary probable was enjoying going out to nice restaurants for dinner with Roger and his wife.

 An organizational level

Wolverine Fasteners was thinking of gross profit and not being fair to the other vendors, who did not have this information. Wolverine had the advantage to win the bids and make profit.

 A societal level

Potentially this could put others out of business by underbidding your competitors/suppliers. It will also cause distrust with the community.

 Socio-economic Impact- By having the advantage to under bid your competition could but your competition out of business and cause them to go bankrupt. This could have a socio-economic effect on other vendors and possible put them out of business. This would not be good for the community, people would lose jobs. Roger and Edwin are breaking the law, even though Roger is getting the information, Edwin is benefiting and he knows what Roger is doing. By Edwin closing his eyes does not make him les guilty.
