Q1.

How many square feet of pizza are eaten in the United States each month?

Answer:

Let the population of US be 30Cr. Middle class and upper middle class families would consume pizzas 4 times a month.

Let us assume that only 70% of population in each age sub category is eligible to eat a pizza (i.e. middle, higher middle or upper class people)

Age wise distribution:

15-30yrs of age: 40% population=12Cr.

On an average they consume pizza 1.5 times every week. So, it comes out to be 6 times a month.

Let us assume that they eat 3 slices one time.

Total slices consumed= 12Cr. X 0.7 X 3 X 6= 151.2 Cr.

30-50yrs.: 30% population=9Cr.

They would eat pizza once in a week. So, 4 times every month

Let us assume that they eat 3 slices one time.

9*0.7*4*3 = 75.6Cr.

10-15 yrs of age: 10% population= 3Cr.

They would consume less amount of pizza than what others can consume.

They would eat pizza twice a month.

Let us assume that they eat 2 slices one time.

3*0.7*2*2= 8.4 Cr.

Total= 151.2 + 75.6 + 8.4 = 235.2 Cr. Slices.

Average slice of pizza is six inches at the base and 10 inches long = 30 square inches (height x half the base)

235.2*30= 7056 Cr. Sq. Inch. = 49 sq. Ft.
