Traveling is a great way to experience other cultures that contrast significantly in different aspects. Traveling is often times used to escape the various stressors and pressures people face, but it is also a method for individuals to further question, but also discover a person's likes and dislikes regarding foreign ways of life. Being submerged into an area that is unlike what one is used to will inevitably alter their perception of the society around them. Even something as quick and simple as driving to an unexplored city can change the way a person views the world. For example, an area populated with a majority of Mexicans will highly contrast a neighborhood that primarily consists of Caucasians, anywhere from driving methods, to the frequency of luxury cars, to the size of homes, all factors that shape the impressions of certain cities. Her ways of experiencing her traveling is not so much of where the famous historic buildings are located, but fitting right in with how the people in other countries do things and being assimilated with it.
Unlike Craig Thompson, a graphic novelist from Michigan, who wrote "Carnet De Voyage", kept records of everyday encounters while cruising down the streets of France, Barcelona, the Alps, Morocco, and many other places he has visited. For example, when he met a girl, she would tell him stories of places she has visited and he would write it down in his journal. Even though he had his journal to draw what he saw or where he went he had also used it for the stories other people had to tell him and he would draw it out in his journal. By doing this, his drawings were based on experiences
