Types of Religion
Religion is a belief. Belief is something that everyone has; even the person who does not have a religion has a belief. World religion is universal; everyone knows what it is and what religion he or she presumes to follow. Majority of people around the world consider religion is to be followed just for the reason that their parents or someone they know followed it before them and that is what they learned. According to the book of religion, published in 1998, Evans supposed that 70 percent of people around the world didn't get to study what the religion around them and how they work. Many religion are practiced around the world, but there are only four major religions and they are Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism. Among these four main religions, Hinduism is considered to be very unique. Christianity, Islam and Judaism are very similar to each other in many ways.
The oldest religion of the world is Judaism. Judaism was founded by Abraham in 1400 BCE in a country called Israel. Judaism still can be found in Israel, which is located in Asia Minor also known as Middle East. About 13 million people around the world claim to be Jews. They read Torah also known as Old Testament as their sacred book. Judaism is also a monotheistic religion. They believe that Jesus is not the savior of the world; Jesus is not the son of the God. They also believe that there is one more Messiah who is yet to come to this world.
The most overriding religion of the world is Christianity. It is largely believed in western side of the world. About 2,039 million Christians are found around the world. It is a monotheistic religion, and was founded by Jesus Christ on 30 CE in Middle East. Jesus Christ was one of decedents of Abraham. Christianity and Judaism have same roots to grow from. They follow Bible as the guideline of God. Bible is also known as New Testament; similar to what Jews have known as Old Testament. They believe that Jesus is the savior and he is the son of god.
Although there are more Christians in this world, the fastest growing religion of the world in this 21st Century is Islam. About 1, 570 million Islam believers are found around the world. It is also a monotheistic religion and was founded by Prophet Mohammad in Middle East. Prophet Mohammed is also one of the descendents of Abraham. It's said that Judaism is the father of Christianity and Islam. Christianity and Islam they both have the same fossil but they separate themselves as they move along with their own beliefs. Islam reads Quran as their sacred text. They believe that Allah is the god and he is the only super being of this world.
The other prevalent religion of the world is Hinduism. Hinduism was founded on the other side of the world. It is almost found only in India and Nepal. However, 950 Million people around the world claim to be Hindu. It is very different than other three main religions of the world. It is the only polytheistic religion of all the world religions. As far as the research goes, there was no founder, but they claim Bhagavat Gita and Upanishads to be their holy books. Their purpose of life is to search the truth and to get to upper level of the caste system. Therefore, anyone who is searching for truth is considered as a Hindu. Hinduism accepts every religion that exits in this world. They say that there is only one god but has many forms of himself.
