Congratulations! America has finally won, but was it an honorable win? America has recently succeeded in their mission of killing Osama Bin Laden though it came with a cost. In my essay I shall explain my views on the topic of terrorism and how we in America are handling it.
The number of deaths listed above I found in an article labeling these death as "casualties". I particularly don't like that word because there was nothing casual about their deaths, no these people were civilians or better stated as Innocent People. Many people believe that these deaths were necessary, that they had to look at the bigger picture, but can't they see that a bigger picture is made up of smaller pictures? Therefore wasn't the real reason or, at least the reason stated by president Bush was we invaded Iraq "to defend peace and credibility of The United States". So sending troops to kill innocent people is really defeating the whole purpose of defending our peace and credibility. In conclusion my point is that there is no way to be at peace when people who have nothing to do with the initial battle are bleeding out in cold blood just to accomplish a goal. Isn't there something wrong with that?
Here in The United States everyone is obligated to follow the laws right? Though what I can't understand that when we are overseas we ignore many of the laws that we have grown to trust and abide by. According to an article "US says it has the right to kill American terror suspects abroad without trial. ( http://www.veteranstoday.com/2010/02/11/us-says-it-has-right-to-kill-american-terror-suspects-abroad-without-trial/) Is that realistic? How can we here say everyone is entitled to a fair trial but not entitle others to a fair trial? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? It seems like it has reversed to guilty until proven innocent. It is alarming to hear that the Obama administration is asserting the assassination of American terror suspects, even if they are far from any battlefield and may have never taken up arms against the U.S. but have only been deemed to constitute as an unspecified "threat" to the United States of America . In conclusion how can we trust a democracy such as our own that they can do whatever they choose just because of their own authority? Don't the people have authority too? Don't' we have power? No we don't.
