jimBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT: The three topics from which students may choose one are: (1) The strategic professional and ethical challenge facing MF Global and COMEX(2) The social responsibility issue facing the National Educational Association and American Association of Teachers(3) The diversity issue facing Walmart Students are to provide their selection of one of three possible topics for the required course research paper. Additionally, students provide their individual rationales for selecting the topic. The rationales should include how the topic relates to career interests or field and the environmental and managerial trends that the student sees emerging in the career field as these relate to the topic. A full narrative development of 5 pages in APA style with citations and a reference list are required. There should be at least three practitioner reference from the popular business press, one scholarly reference related to the topic, and two references on trends.LEARNING OUTCOME(S) ADDRESSED IN WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT: The following course learning outcomes are addressed: 1. Synthesize and support a rational and informed professional position on the appropriate role of government and quasi-governmental agencies in supporting ethics, social responsibility and diversity across types of organizations and professional roles.2. Evaluate the effectiveness of governmental, quasi-governmental, regulatory, corporate, market and individual interaction in policy debate and policy making in the areas of ethics, diversity and social responsibility as undertaken in professional practice.3. Analyze and evaluate theories and models of ethics for application in professional decision making and action.4. Synthesize and argue a professional approach to social responsibility in terms of personal, professional and organizational roles.5. Analyze and evaluate professional actions and approaches to fostering diversity to increase organizational effectiveness and goodness.6. Investigate and formulate an evidence-based approach to developing alternative approaches to policy in ethics, social responsibility and diversity.The Hodges University learning outcomes of critical thinking, research ability, initiative and written communication are also addressed.
DUE DATE FOR WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT: The assignment is due in Week 4 of the course.
PERCENTAGE OF COURSE GRADE: 5%
REQUIREMENT FOR PAGE LENGTH: Minimum 5 pages not counting title page and reference list. Maximum of 7 pages not counting title page and reference list.
