War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. It means armed soldiers who left their families to protect their country with pride? Or bullets through buildings, shields and fleshes, killing people in its path? Where there is war, death will arrive and survivors will live only in fear. War brings no peace but more hatred, more deaths, more damages to the people and wastage of money. I believe that US should immediately remove its troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
As terrorist insurgency appears each day growing in strength, and causality increases, it is necessary to immediately withdraw US troops to minimize the counting thousands of US casualty figures and up to hundred thousands of Iraqi civilian and combatant deaths. During wars many lives are taken, not only soldiers, but also civilians and even innocent children, which also hurt their families forever. Although human beings know their lives will eventually end in death, but in reality many people cannot imagine such sudden death to their still useful normal lives. However, humans are not able to comprehend their own death, but they are all affected when death occurs to people around them. Through histories of US wars such as World War I, which estimated 10 million soldiers were killed, we learnt that wars bring enormous deaths, damages and long-lasting fears to both the soldiers and the civilians. The increasing numbers of martyrs should sharpen our ability to correctly recognize death, to readily recall the sad feelings of our beloved people dying, and to always member the too profound sacrifices behind the victories.
War is not a solution to stop terrorism by overwhelming opponents with weapons or forces; instead, it will bring no peace but only pains, humiliations, damages and destructions. Some may think that to win a war is the easiest and cleverest way to solve problems, but to me, it is a way of nincompoopery. As we learnt from history, wars had always brought serious impacts and damages to the world such as the World War I and World War II, which brought enormous economic losses estimated $300 billions and $1000 billions respectively to many countries around the world. There was serious unemployment and high inflation after those two wars. Factories were burnt, bridges were destroyed, and many cities around the world were ruined; and after all the destructions and devastations, countries had to spend many long years to reconstruct the world they had known before the war. Even after the WWII there was the Cold War. War does not bring peace, only respite and will bring more wars and damages. Peace could not be found through the use of force, but should be obtained through mutual understanding.
US have huge debts, but rather than using taxpayers' taxes to pay the debts or to spend on education, the government chose to spend on wars. The total costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan allocated by the Congress to date are over one trillion throughout the years, and the costs are shared by California and 40 other States. The State of California is the eighth largest economy in the world, just behind France and Italy, and ahead of Spain and Canada. California is an amazing and successful State yet it is broke; because the State of California had shared $14,219 millions of Afghanistan war cost during the 2011 fiscal year. Most of the State's population pays taxes but still not enough to cover expenses
